Ghana Stock Exchange CEO Abena Amoah Appointed to Presidential Economic Advisory Group

The Presidency announced the appointment on January 15, 2026. The 12-member high-level advisory body, chaired by President John Dramani Mahama and supported by Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, brings together some of Ghana’s most respected economic minds to provide independent, non-partisan guidance on the country’s recovery and long-term growth agenda.
Other members of the group include Kwame Pianim, Sir Sam Jonah, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, Ishmael Yamson, Togbe Afede XIV, Dr. Henry A. Kofi Wampah, and Prof. Priscilla Twumasi Baffour, among others.
Abena Amoah’s appointment underscores the growing recognition of the capital market as a critical engine of national development.
She made history in November 2022 as the first woman to lead the Ghana Stock Exchange in its 32-year history.
With over 25 years’ experience across investment banking, capital markets, and financial advisory, Amoah has built and transformed some of West Africa’s most influential financial institutions. Her international roles include serving on the ICMA Board and the Executive Committee of the African Securities Exchanges Association.
Through collaboration between the Ghana Stock Exchange and the Young Investors Network (YIN), over 500,000+ students across Ghana have been empowered with practical knowledge in saving, investing, and economic citizenship.
