In a vibrant push to empower Ghana’s next generation of financial trailblazers, the National Investment Quiz (NIQ) Competition is set to launch on November 13, 2025, rebranding and expanding its mission to demystify the world of investments for high school students nationwide.
Organized by the Young Investor Network (YIN) and backed by powerhouse partners including the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), Central Securities Depository (CSD), and ABSA Bank, the NIQ transforms classrooms into battlegrounds of intellect. This year’s edition invites 32 top Senior High Schools to compete in a high-stakes showdown of knowledge on financial markets, savvy investment strategies, and core economic principles—culminating in a grand finale on November 28, 2025.
The quiz’s evolution from its former guise as the Capital Market Quiz underscores a bolder vision: fostering sustainable wealth-building in an era of economic opportunity and pitfalls. Jerry Boachie-Dankwah, Head of Marketing at the GSE, emphasized the initiative’s surging momentum during the unveiling ceremony in Accra. “We have more partners onboard for this year’s competition. This shows we are growing,” he noted, adding, “The whole idea is to create awareness about sustainable investments; financial literacy is key to building wealth and creating a vibrant economy.”
Beyond celebration, the NIQ serves as a critical shield against financial deception. Boachie-Dankwah highlighted its role in equipping young Ghanaians to spot and sidestep unregulated schemes like Ponzi and pyramid operations—a timely reminder in today’s complex investment landscape.
Echoing this commitment, Kofi Busia Kyei, Executive Director of the Young Investors Network, stressed the long-term impact: “The aim is to equip the youth with the ability to make sound financial and investment decisions.” For Kyei, consistent education isn’t just an add-on—it’s the cornerstone of financial independence for tomorrow’s leaders.
A Proven Catalyst for Change
Since its inception, the NIQ has blossomed into a nationwide phenomenon, blending competition with real-world enlightenment. Last year alone, the program reached an impressive 100 Senior High Schools across all regions, directly influencing over 100,000 students through riveting quizzes and hands-on investment workshops.
The 2025 lineup promises even fiercer rivalry, with teams vying for the coveted trophy over two electrifying weeks. Defending champions Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC)—affectionately dubbed the “Blue Magicians”—reclaimed glory in 2024 after a razor-thin loss to Prempeh College in the 2023 finale. Will they hold the crown, or will a new contender rise?
As Ghana charts a course toward economic resilience, the NIQ stands as a beacon of innovation and inclusion. Aspiring participants and supporters are urged to tune in—because in the game of finance, knowledge truly is the ultimate currency.
