This programme targets tertiary and senior high school final year students and undertakes training, workshops, and coaching designed to teach students practical job readiness skills.
Launching the TFB programme, the Founder and Executive Director of YIN, Mr Joshua Mensah, said the TFB programme would groom a pool of competent professionals in banking, finance, insurance, and capital market industry.
He said the main objective of the TFB is to offer training, workshop, and seminar and to enhance the knowledge, core employability skills, and capabilities of students’ interest in financial sectors and other areas.
Mr Mensah said, “This year, We are implementing a module that will enable students to develop employability skills and competencies, understand the nature of work, and work toward developing a portfolio of skills and competencies to facilitate the transition into graduate-level employment.”
He said YIN is seeking partnership and financial support to ensure the successful implementation of the programme.
He urged all industry players to come on board to collaborate with the Network to help bridge the gap between academia and industry to find entrepreneurial solutions that will continue fuelling economic growth in Ghana.
The YIN, a 2022 American Saves Savings Champion Award Winner, also educates and helps young people prioritise savings and investment at a younger age through its initiative called the ‘Save A Cedi A Day’ Challenge.
Mr Mensah said the challenge is programmed to help young people put aside funds that will help them in the future and gradually add up to a significant amount.
The challenge also introduces simple finance basics and money management skills that can help youngsters familiarise themselves with money and learn simple savings techniques to adopt good spending habits.
The YIN also organises the stock pitch competition centered on a summary of a potential investment idea into a stock. The pitch should recommend a position, which investor should take in a stock market, and why.
The defining aspect of an excellent stock pitch is extensive research into all aspects of the company.
